"We Can not Go Home Again" was designed by Ray and his wife, Susan, because it becomes a tool to teach filmmaking through practice and not theory. Susan is president and founder of Nicholas Ray Foundation, designed to honor the pioneering spirit of her husband, saving and restoring his films and archive materials, and supporting innovation and experimentation in contemporary cinema. Analyzing the work of Ray in those different ways, the project aims to not only communicate its importance as a filmmaker, but also open new avenues to recover and show movies.
